The Salt-Water brand was launched more than 70 years ago. During the World War 2, in order to cope with leather shortages, Walter Hoy began making sandals using scraps of leather left over from producing military boots. The news about his home manufacture quickly spread and soon families from all over St. Louis were asking if Walter could make sandals for their children. This is how larger-scale production started. Dozens of years of experience and a sense for classic fashion mean that Salt-Water sandals are known and valued all over the world.
The secret of Salt-Waters' success is their exceptional quality. The sole is made of flexible, durable, hand-stitched rubber. The straps are always made from water-resistant sealant leather, which perfectly moulds to the foot. Brass buckles make it possible to fit the straps to narrow or wide feet, and what's important, are rust-resistant. The Salt-Water sandals are perfectly suitable for running through water and they can be machine-washed using gentle detergent.
The Salt-Water sandals are produced in a broad range of colours and styles, for women and for children. Classic plaited style and the round-the-ankle buckle straps mean that the sandals are not only comfortable but look great on your feet. Most models are still based on the original designs produced by Walter Hoy in the 1940s and are available in a wide range of sizes, from women's to kids'. The choice of colours means everyone can find their ideal pair. And there is a lot to choose from: starting from white and grey to turquoise and read and ending with black and navy. Matte and gloss finish, multi-coloured and with floral patterns. The plaits are either narrow or fuller, the soles thin and durable.
